Speaker 1:

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode, a quick episode of the Style and Vibes podcast, and this is really to talk about the dancehall niceness we kick off 2024 with. So if you are a dancehall fan, you know that thing happens on Boxing Day, However, the real clash coming at 2024, kicking off the new year. So I'm really here to give my thoughts and, as you can tell by my voice, I am excited for the dancehall niceness that is, rhythms and lyrics. So, backstory, producer Russian, not too long ago, mid December, was talking about his Dutty Money Riddim and decided to do more of like a UGC type of campaign I don't even know if it was really a campaign or just he was just talking about it and, you know, invited other artists to voice on the rhythm because he was going to re-release it. So there was all of these entries and people tagging him using the hashtag Dutty Money Riddim, which has over thousands of Instagram impressions already before all of this happened. So the Dutty Money Riddim previously released a while ago. I don't know the exact timing of it, especially as I'm recording this podcast. I might find it by the time I release it, so I'll put it in the show notes.

Speaker 1:

However, we kicked off the year, more submissions were coming in because it really kind of started sometime in December and Steph London released a freestyle over the rhythm and she didn't exactly call out Jada Kingdom, aka Twinkle on the rhythm. However, goody Jada follow up response in Instagram, so you know she is a lover of social media. So she tagged her and said are you Amiya Tak? Because the lyrics in which she, steph London presented alluded to her, but it didn't say her name. So she tagged her in a post in her stories and said Marie Luanua, if Amiya Tak are, if I am money, I get it.

Speaker 1:

Because previously there was a social media flare up around Jada dating a rumored to be linked to Steph London's ex Burnaboy. So to get hot, no. So they have rumored to have had something. We've seen pictures and things like that. Jada's never really actually claimed him, Neither has Burnaboy claimed her, but we have seen them in public pictures and in vicinity together. The two have moved on. They're no longer a high item. Jada is now with Meg, the Stallion's ex party, so you have seen the two of them on social media very heavy in public. They are very much together and that is a thing. So you know Goody was just living our best life in our relationship and Steph London comes with this interesting verse. So she calls it out and say Amiya Tak. And Steph responds please point this girl to a studio, not in my DMs. So Jada take the information and gone back to studio and she released Suan Sang.

Speaker 1:

I will link both of them in the show notes. It is highly entertaining to see and hear, but you got to listen to both. Both are on the dirty money rhythm, which you guys you will love both. Both are lyrically great and this is what I love about Dan Saw.

Speaker 1:

Rhythms are still a thing, rhythms are still popular and not only that. It was garnering engagement from people just submitting on specific rhythms. And the idea of re-releasing a rhythm is ingenious because essentially, russian has already, he already has the rights to the rhythm, so re-releasing it with new talent, I think, is really genius. It's something that I've talked about that should be done in the dancehall space, especially because rhythms aren't as big as they used to be. So I think there's one genius there. And then having these two you know, extremely talented women battling lyrically, let's keep it on, keep it, keep it lyrical.

Speaker 1:

Ladies Battling lyrically is getting all the fans excited. One thing I wanted to add is, especially with all the hype around these ladies, I think it's ingenious if they come out with something. So Jada has already released her official single on a Dutty Money Rhythm, so if she had like more like an EP or something, but it really did kind of reignite interest in both ladies. So I think it would be even crazier if they did like some sort of collab, like go a next level, like the boy is mine, type of collaboration or mixtape called Burn Her, and kind of like utilize and fuel the excitement that that fans really have, because I think most fans really like both, even though they are voting.

Speaker 1:

But how would you take the attention and kind of use it to your advantage, is what I'm saying, is the excitement around it. So again, in a social media world, you know and how fast and how quick you have to be. You only have limited time to kind of respond and or follow up, and Jada has seemingly done that, at least within the time span of this few days that we have seen the two of them kind of going at it. So as it develops we'll kind of see and understand a little bit more. But I think it would be.

Speaker 1:

It would be beneficial to the ladies to kind of keep the attention, since they're both really talented and at the time there is no counter response of me recording this, but if there is, I'll be sure to link it in the notes.
